In this week, I learned about about corpus linguistic  by  Dr. Kriangkrai Vathanalaoha. He taught about historical: overview that corpus began in 1897s and 1950s-1960s. in history of corpus that had two cases. And there were 7 types of corpora.1. Specialised Corpus: It was a specific information.2. General Corpus: It was a specific information.3. Multilingual Corpus:4. Parallel Corpus: It was a translate text.5. Learner Corpus: Language use crated by people learning a particular language.6. Historical or Diachronic Corpus: 1.5 million words of text from 700AD - 1700AD.7. Monitor Corpus: Continually being added to.Moreover, I learnt about BNC web and lerned to know how to find the words in corpus.

In this week, I learned about linguistics and language Teaching by professor Dr. Budsaba Kanoksilapatham from English Department, Faculty of Art, Silpakorn University. She told about skills that important for teacher that teach in English. She taught a way to pronounce the letter “h”, consonant sounds and vowel sounds. After that I did the pre-test about intonation. Moreover, I learnt about sociolinguistics that was using language in different situation. For example, Hi, what’s up ? or Good morning. In this course is very important and useful for teachers that teach in English subject. So, I could apply all of the information from her to develop my English skills.

In this week, I learned about how to added widget to my blogger. I learned to add clock, calendar, and counter for blog. Then, teacher taught me how to link friends from my blog. In addition, I learned how to create a QR code to use in my blog and also added the video that good English skill on my blog. Last, I learned about how to save and share my work on public.

I have learned about the basic of using computer for teaching and studying English language. Teacher taught me about meaning of blog. Then, I learned lot of new vocabulary such as Techie which mean a person who is expert in or enthusiastic about technology, especially computing. Technophobe which meant a person who fears, dislikes, or avoids new technology. Tech-savvy which meant proficient in the use of technology, especially computers. After that, I also learned lot of new acronyms that were used in this course. Last, I learned to find and select free template for my blog.

These are the abbreviations I have learnt in class.

  • IT (Information Technology) is the application of computers to store, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data, often in the context of a business or other enterprise.
  • ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is an extended term for information technology (IT) which stresses the role of unified communications and the integration of telecommunications, computers as well as necessary enterprise software, middleware, storage, and audio-visual systems, which enable users to access, store, transmit, and manipulate information.
  • CAI (Computer Assisted Instruction) is the use of the computer as a tool to facilitate and improve instruction. CAI programs use tutorials, drill and practice, simulation, and problem solving approaches to present topics, and they test the student's understanding. 
  • CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) is the search for and study of applications of the computer in language teaching and learning.
  • CMC (Computer Mediated Communication) is defined as any human communication that occurs through the use of two or more electronic devices.
  • TELL (Technology-enhanced language Learning) is the use of the computer as a technological innovation to display multimedia as a means of complementing a teaching method langauge teachers. 
  • WBI (Web-based Instruction) is teaching and learning supported by the attributes and resources of the Internet.
  • MUDs (Multi-user Dungeon / Multi-user Dimension) is a multiplayer real-time virtual world, usually text-based. MUDs combine elements of role-playing games, hack and slash, player versus player, interactive fiction, and online chat.
  • MOOs (Multiple Domain Object Oriented) is MOOs are network accessible, multi-user, programmable, interactive systems well-suited to the construction of text-based adventure games, conferencing systems, and other collaborative software.
